Memorial Library

In 1890, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary constructed the Memorial Library at the corners of Fifth and Broadway in Louisville. A gift of approximately $50,000 by Mrs. J. Lawrence Smith provided for the cost of the building. At the time, James P. Boyce envisioned a library that would last for 100 years. The seminary used the Memorial Library until it moved to its current location in 1926.
