Between 1990 and 1997, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary completed various stages of the Roy L. and June Honeycutt Campus Center. Named in honor of its eighth president and first-lady of Southern Seminary, the sixteen-million-dollar structure has housed various administrative offices, extensive recreational facilities, the Hart Hagan Health Clinic, the Callaway Archaeological Museum, the Lottie Moon collection, art galleries, the campus bookstore, mail services, the Founders’ Cafe, student lounges, meeting rooms, and food-service facilities. At the center of the complex is Dillard Chapel, named in memory of Badgett Dillard, long-time SBTS administrator who also served as executive vice-president from 1982 until his death in 1986. Hoover Hall, the complex’s south wing, is named in commemoration of Lawrence Hoover. Chiles Hall, the complex’s north wing, is dedicated in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Chiles and houses both Heritage Hall and the the campus cafeteria. The Honeycutt Center’s Georgian architecture was chosen to complement the existing campus buildings surrounding the seminary lawn, with its specially-made bricks ordered from South Carolina.
