Through the particular labors of Dr. Leo T. Crismon, a noted historian of Kentucky Baptist life as well as the chair of the Kentucky Historical Commission and former seminary librarian, the library acquired a significant collection of manuscript minutes and records from Kentucky Baptist churches, some as early as 1785. Among the important church minutes in this collection: Great Crossing Baptist Church in Scott County, KY (from 1785); East Hickman Baptist Church in Lexington, KY (from 1787); Forks of the Elkhorn Church in Franklin County, KY (from 1788); Tate’s Creek Baptist Church in Madison County, KY (from 1798); Mount Tabor Baptist Church on Beaver Creek in Green River Association (from 1798); Burks Branch Church in Shelby County, KY (from 1801); Mountain Island Baptist Church in Owen County, KY (from 1801); Little Flock Baptist Church in Bullitt County (from 1810); Bullittsburg Baptist Church in Petersburg, KY (from 1813); Harrod’s Creek Church in Oldham County, KY (from 1818); Cox’s Creek Church in Nelson County, KY (from 1835); and East Baptist Church in Louisville, KY (from 1842).
