A trustee of SBTS, Thomas Treadwell Eaton (1845 – 1907) served as pastor of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville from 1881 until 1907. He also served as editor of the Western Recorder from 1887 until his death and used the columns of the paper to support those opposed to William Heth Whitsitt. Eaton was instrumental in bringing about Whitsitt’s resignation as president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Materials from the T. T. Eaton Papers include correspondence, sermon notes, essays, and other personal items. The archives has prepared an online finding aid for this collection, and an item calendar is available upon request.
